About AMGHS
A Meaningful Goal Housing Shelter (AMGHS) is committed to uplifting South Los Angeles County’s homeless population through shelter, education, and vocational training. Centered on empowerment, resilience, and creating lasting opportunities for sustainable futures, AMGHS is dedicated to providing safe shelter, education, and job training to empower homeless individuals toward lasting independence and community integration.

Our History
A Meaningful Goal Housing Shelter (AMGHS) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Pasadena, CA.
Founded in 2012, AMGHS has provided shelter, vocational training, mental health support, and educational services to help unhoused individuals achieve independence and dignity. Through its community-based services, AMGHS assists individuals in ultimately reintegrating into society and becoming self-sufficient. Helping one person at a time to successfully meet their goals and live a meaningful life with dignity — this is the right of every human being.
Founded by Dr. Shady R. Mallory — a visionary leader with over 25 years of experience — AMGHS began as a small housing support organization and has grown into the reliable and recognized South LA service provider it is today. No stranger to crises, she has led AMGHS through the challenging landscapes of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Altadena Eaton Wildfire, and more, ensuring the uninterrupted delivery of care, hygiene services, and transitional housing support.
Driven by Dr. Mallory’s deep, continuing commitment to supporting individuals experiencing homelessness and her real-world expertise operating community housing programs, AMGHS has earned its reputation year after year as a trusted organization supporting individuals transitioning from homelessness into permanent housing.
